On October 13, 2019, A.F. had finally arrived in my town. I sat at a corner cafe in the downtown area. I sat within the corner outside patio and lo and behold I watched him walk up the sidewalk to where I sat.
He was so handsome. His raven black hair glistened in the Autumn sunlight. He was looking at his phone while talking to me. He didn't know I was watching him as he looked a little lost, but just then he caught view of me. Within seconds our eyes met and locked. I stood and waited for him to approach me. He simply gave me a dazzling smile. I was hooked. I no longer felt so frightened and scared.
He hugged me for the first time. It was incredible. After years of chatting and phone calls, our two very different worlds collided. We held onto each other very briefly. He was so shy while I was terrified and nervous.
He then sat down in front of me. I was tongue tied. I had no idea what to say to this man. So I grew very quiet. He is the one who saved the day. He carried the conversation. I will be forever eternally grateful to him for his incredible compassion and kindness in that moment.
--stay tuned. (more to come)
